The existing three-level apartment occupying the second, third and the attic floor is converted into two living units with a common entrance on the first floor. The smaller two-bedroom apartment is on the second floor, while the larger four-room apartment is located on the third floor. Considering that the building is located in the Dubrovnik "old town", the design approach was extremely attentive to heritage – the original facades with all the elements are preserved in their original form, and all the works inside of the building were made taking into account the existing elements of the architectural heritage. Architectural approach is based on a dialogue between the old (inherited) and the new (contemporary). The concept of both housing units is based on the formation of 'boxes' within a free space enclosed by an existing stone wall. The newly-formed 'boxes' differ in material, texture and color from the surrounding, free space, and combine the kitchen, sanitary facilites and wardrobe cabinets.
