An ambassador's residence, a great distance from the street, empty area around the house, site closed off to the street and the views, the flat terrain around the building. Inconspicuous design, but maximum use of energy from nature as well as low energy consumption in accordance with sustainable construction. These are all the constraints of designing a home in Prekrizje. The house is closed off towards the street but opens towards the green zone. The main design element is a stone ring that extends along the perimeter of the ground floor. The ring is one storey high and it includes exterior spaces; atriums, terraces and light wells. The ring creates a certain privacy and gaps between the closed and open part of the house. The openings in the stone ring are large and there is one on each facade, while differently colored openings appear within the playful white volume. The inner core of the house is a jagged volume, but the stone ring unifies it. Besides a formal aspect, the perimetral shell has a functional significance; part of the house within it is public and the upper part is private. The basement is filled with service facilities and the house is completely low-energy and sustainable.
